Pics of this week's colonial finds plus group shot of all to come from this site

As I've already mentioned, I thought I was done with this site a while back but with the delayed planting I was able to get back in there 3 times this week after the weeds had been sprayed. I thought I had pounded the place pretty good, but that was obviously a poor assumption. The first 2 pics below show the finds from just this week, and the last pic shows everything I had dug at this site before this week so it does not include the recent finds. Almost all of these items came from 2 or 3 heavy iron hotspots. I was telling Dan yesterday that I'd be willing to pay someone to come in and deep plow those small areas as I can guarantee plenty of additional artifacts remain masked or too deep. So Josh - please send your bobcat down this way .... bronto!! Hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend.

Will - if you're referring to that dark, round object to the right of the green bit boss, that's a large decorative tack. If you click on that pic 2 or 3 times to get the maximum magnification you'll be able to see more detail.
Bill, I have what I think is the same item, mine is about the size of a dollar, is yours? And mine has a small hole in the top and is threaded on the inside rim.what2.webpwhat.webp

The item you're talking about is not the same as the one in my pic. Mine is an 18th century bridal rosette, or bit boss as they're sometimes called. These are among the most common finds at late colonial sites, and I've probably dug at least 25 of them. I'm attaching a pic below from one of Ivor Hume's books that shows these items in the upper right of the figure, and the date is also listed as the 1700s. Yours does not have the attachment tabs, and the threads would probably date your piece to a much later time. And I'm not sure about that hole. Actually, I thought Will was asking about the darker colored item to the right of the bit boss which is a large, fancy tack.

Thank you very much sir for the reply and information. It is appreciated. It was found along with items dating to the mid to late 1800s so this would fit. Shane- Cane Field Bandits
