"Pics or it didn't happen"
First and foremost: A picture proves absolutely nothing! I could round up my entire stash, or buy a $1000 FV bag from APMEX, or just find some random picture off the internet, and claim one heck of a score with photographic "evidence." With or without the pic, its still fake. Unless you were there every step of the way with the person making the claim, you'll never know with 100% certainty if said claim is truthful or bogus...pic or no pic. Just like every internet forum that has ever existed or will exist in the future, we have no doubt had some bogus claims made on this forum. Some people, for whatever reason, like to "stir the pot" and make untruthful claims and/or comments just to get folks riled up. By responding to the "troll", you are actually just giving him/her what they want...attention. In effect, all you are doing is attracting more "trolling" posts. I am in no way even suggesting for one second that you believe every post is 100% accurate. However, I do suggest that if you believe a claim/statement/whatever to be bogus, just ignore it. If it is indeed a troll, he/she will quickly depart the forum when the desired result is not achieved. Should the claim turn out to indeed be accurate, you don't run the risk of losing a new and possibly valuable member of this forum. Put yourself in this person's shoes for just a second. Maybe you've been lurking on this forum for quite awhile, enjoying reading about others' finds, but never had a find yourself that you deemed worthy enough to post about. Finally you hit that big score. You post about it on your favorite forum and most everyone essentially calls you a liar. That would be very disappointing. Bottom line: "Calling someone out", regardless of whether the post is legit or not, never helps the situation.
"You're doing too much volume"
This accusation seems to be a relatively new phenomenon on this forum. I do not remember anyone making this complaint when I first started lurking here around 3 years ago, even though there were mega searchers back then as well. If it happened, I believe it was rare. Why the change? I have no idea, but here is the way I see it: Essentially, mind your own business. If you believe that searching 50+ boxes a week is somehow bad for the hobby overall, then you absolutely shouldn't search 50+ boxes weekly. However, while I respect your opinion, I don't think you have any right whatsoever to tell me that I can't if I so desire. For that matter, just what is that magic number of boxes weekly that constitutes "too much"? 50? 30? 114.2? Who gets to decide this number and why do they get to decide? 50 boxes weekly sounds like an insane number to most of us. However, to someone doing say 2 boxes per month, 8 boxes per week would be "insane". To someone doing 200 per week, 50 is nothing. Its all relative. How many boxes your fellow CRHer is doing should be of no concern to you. CRH at the level that you wish to do and/or can afford to do, and let others do the same.
I hate that these are the "hot topics" right now on this forum. I can't speak for the rest of you, but these are not the subjects I desire to log in and read about over and over and over. I sincerely hope we can discuss/debate these issues right here in this thread and put them to bed once and for all.
