Pin pointer advice

It was just an example, actually I pop most of my targets with a probe. My XLT has a pinpoint function that is dead center and an open coil to probe thru. Frank...-

Around here popping targets with a probe means clad or the rare piece of jewelry. If that is what your after cool but deeper older coins a quality pinpointer is as important to me as a good metal detector. I would rather pay for trx and not worry about it braking and having piece of mind that white's will fix it if it does. We had a HF store in Medford Ore when I lived there and their stuff is what I would call disposable like the angle grinder I bought for 12 dollars and lasted for 5 minutes for that price it was'nt worth the gas to return. You must really have to be really careful with one not to brake it.

Now I see where you are coming from! The method of handling your tools!
It appears some people use there tools as if they stole them and some treat there tools with respect.

I purchased 2 of those 4" angle grinders from HF 3 years ago. One for me and one for my son. I do a bit of TIG welding so mine gets a good workout. No problem with either grinder. Does that tell you something?
My HF pinpointers are are about 3 years old with no problems. Yes the switches are cheap and I replaced them both for a cost of app $2 each, but that still puts me over $100 ahead of your cost.

If you want to mention territory, I think you will find deeper and older targets on the East coast which has been occupied much longer by metal wielding humans. By the way, I have detected a couple of Ghost Townes in Oregon and Washington in past adventures and don't remember any particularly deep targets and yes my detectors go deep.

Hay, if you like the shape of yours better and don't mind paying an extra hundred or so to get it, enjoy it.

Watch some videos on YouTube of reviews and comparisons such as this video and decide what you like best.

You are really funny. You can twist it anyway you want HF sells junk you know it and I know and everybody else knows it. if their pinpointer is good enough for you that is cool. You having no problem with a HF grinder tells me how much you must use it. I'm a contractor and use power tools daily and have learned buy the best tool you can afford saves you money in the long run.

Frank you need to let it going man. The more you a text the more you sound silly

Hay, but I am enjoying myself. I realize we all have our opinions, but it's the reasoning that some put forth that gives me a great deal of entertainment. Most people have no idea what is inside that pinpointer. I on the other hand had modified my HF to light a bright blue led when it detects the target. I can also adjust it to detect from 1/2" to 3". Now if you look inside a pro pointer, you will be lucky if you can get the guts out without breaking the switch. It is so confined in there, I suspect there is a thermal problem that causes the falsifying problem. Most consider it a good unit because you can send it back and they will replace it. I consider my HF a good unit because I don't have to send it back. It's all just points of view, it's not Star Wars, lol , Frank...-

Wrong, Frank it is not "points of view" it is pin points of view.

I have been using a pro pointer for a little over a year. Yesterday I bought a whites TRX. The whites is hands down a big upgrade in my opinion. It hits coins at over four inches and really let's you know when your on the target. The Garrett is a great pointer, but I will only use it as a back up now. Either one is a good choice and I don't think you can go wrong.

I don't know how to post a link here but on you tube I just saw a review for an "X-Pointer". The posters name was "Detector Comparasons" You might want to look at it before making a decision. Its a P.I. and under $100. Also claims that you cant make it false.

I posted this a few days ago in the "Best Pinpointer" thread below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvmaoifmUpI#t=12

Actually I was talking about my point of view, I realize others may vary. lol Frank...-

Are the "Comparisons" independent reviews?

Hey Mike,
How about you come clean about your post. Why play dumb?

1. The "posters name...Detector Comparisons" just happens to be your BEST buddy Carter.
2. Your buddy Carter is actually importing the X Pointer from mainland China with his BEST buddy Ron DeGhetto from NJ.
3. I'm all for "reviews" and "comparisons" - but, maybe...just maybe people would want to know that the "reviewer" who tries to come off as being independent is actually making money on what's being reviewed?? No harm in that...

Don't you think so, Mike? Why are you playing the shill?

PS: additional products that are "reviewed" but are actual money makers for the reviewer:

1. Detecting Pal from DetectorPro - manufactured by Carter for his BEST buddy Gary at DetectorPro: a direct ripoff of my Detecting Buddy product.
2. NEL coils: being imported by Carter and Ron and distributed by Ron
3. DetectorPro the "Underwater" detector: manufactured in China by Carter's Chinese connection
4. DetectorPro Gray Ghost Amphibian headphone: again manufactured in China by Carter's Chinese connection

Actually I think I will get a HF pin pointer and modify it for a back up, that's a great idea! Thanks Frank! Just saved me some $$!

I have a Garrett pin pointer and have not had any problem with it. I have seen some video's where the the guys were digging with their pin pointer or at least probing quite hard. I don't think the pin pointer was actually made for that purpose.

Just connect a bright blue LED across the sounding device. it will light when an object is detected. Test it before you soider it,it is polarity sensitive.
