Pinpointers: What do you use, recommend, and why?

Question about the Sunray pinpointer...
Since a few people have mentioned the weight, and I have bad shoulder joints...
Why do people mount it on the detector? Can it be hip or belt mounted so that you don't have to swing it around while detecting?
GOIO has a bad elbo,,,and I see him either just carrying his PinPointer in hand ,or letting it rest in his finds bag....You can also mount the Sunray below your arm cup under your swing elbo and leverage even less weight that way.....Or just carry your pinponter head in your finds bag........You may not notice the weight difference than with-out it.....

The Uniprobe will detect 4-6 inches deep on coins, I know of no other pinpointer that will detect that deep. Plus it works on all detectors, no need to buy a pinpointer for each detector you own like the Sunray.

buy the best no need to use the rest quit second guessing your self BUY A GARRETT PROPOINTER

What Do You work for Garrett ??? L.O.L.

If you own an E-Trac...odds are you don't use any other machine (except maybe your Explorer)for Land hunting!
SunRay CAN get your target up to 3" if adjusted properly,,,,A N D ....it will give you the same tone for that target with the probe as you heard threw the coil....You will also hear a lower tone if a pop top is in the hole,,,or it will null on iron in coins mode....
I have the pistol probe that is very simular to the Uniprobe yet the pistol probe has been seen (on a You Tube video) to find a target @ 6"...& is adjustable to be less sensitive down to about an inch...........Both are PI Pinpointers as well as the Garrett Propointer......
I can not understand prefering to voluntarily dig a nail or bottle cap just because your PP cannot tell the difference between iron ,and silver ,or Gold.......SUNRAY CAN tell the difference........
If you took a poll of E-Trac users....I would be willing to wager that as much as 80% use the SunRay X-1 exclusively...
Why downgrade to a P.I. Pinpointer,,and dig the 3 iron targets before you dig the silver dime.....WASTE OF TIME !
Cut your recovery time more than 50% and get a SunRay.......You will never go back to your old P.I. PP...(Voluntarily

I agree 100% - Get the SunRay!!!!

I have never had a problem locating my good target with my Uniprobe, never been misled by iron trash. I own 6 detectors. 2 water and 4 are land machines ( Whites 6000 XL PRO, Sovereign GT, Whites Classic ID, Fisher 1235X ) The single Uniprobe works on all 4 of them. With the Sunray I would need to buy 4 probes. I can also use the Uniprobe under metal bleachers by itself to search where I could not use a detector due to all the metal. I found a nice 14k charm using Uniprobe where I would never have been able to get my detector coil.

I don't really want to get involved in comparisons... but I've had many different pinpointers, harbor freight, pistol probe, bullseye II, I even built my own!

...but I keep coming back to my Sunray X-1!

On the E-Trac, to ensure you get max depth with the Sunray, you have to run manual sensitivity. If you run auto it will decrease your sensitivity when you switch over to the Sunray.

If the Sunray starts to feel heavy, just put it in your front side digging pouch. Piece of cake.

Mayo,

I have an Extra SunRay X-1 pinpointer, we can meet up for a hunt and I will let you try it out. BTW if someone else has a different pinpointer and is willing to borrow it to you for a comparison that will better

Good luck.

Garrett pro pointer ........

I have a Pistol Probe you can compare against the SunRay,the pistol probe boasts of up to 6" max depth, adjustable down to an inch (Then why am I still using my SunRay?), I wonder if anyone near a Chicago Park has a Garrett Propointer,or a Uni-Probe that they would be willing to compare against the SunRay and pistol probe....?
I will seed a couple holes with a dime a pulltab,a bottle cap ,and a nail....or a dime and 3 other objects in the same hole..........Can your Pinpointer locate the dime target the first try ? ten times out of ten ? I know SunRay can...
Lets do a comparison...........(As Olepossum said[ Nuff Said !!!] Bring your Garrett,or a Uni-Probe....I'll bite if it can discriminate...

Wow...
For this duel I can almost hear the theme song music to one of the old Clint Eastwood western movies playing in the background.

it's worth it to watch all the way to the "aaeee aaeee yaahhhh, waah waah waaahhh"

The contentious protestations aside, today's choices are awesome whether rod-mounted or hand-held. Never used a PP other than my own until recently. Must be a mid-life thing. See ya all in the woods!
