hello, i found this ring detecting today but i cant id it. all i do know is that it is a ring. i think it is a toy as it is adjustable. i think it is brass or copper cause it is tarnished. it looks like a mailbox on the top, and has some fancy design on the side of the box. then it has a torch with flames on the left side and the right has weights and scale. then it has a thin piece of metal coming through a small hole, it looks like you would pull it back and then release it for some reason lol. then it has a half ring on the bottom. if anybody can figure it out it's here. thanks everone. "god bless"
ben.

007 ring or toy scoop? I kept changing my mind too. It was tough in the beginning without good pics. When I saw the markings and the orange plastic, I changed my mind about a scoop. Lostcauses got it.

i would restore it because its an easy fix and all you really need to do with the part that you already have is clean it up.

restore it and put in on display with your collection(if you dont have a collection just wait a couple of years your collection will grow)

old toys are everywhere if you know where to dig and they make great collections for kids and grandkids.

It has a nice patina. I would be careful and keep the cleaning to a minimum.

I dont know what is missing besides the lightbulb? Maybe a spring and/or insert..

On restoring it to working, the bulb is 1 1/2 volt flashlight bulb screw in type. The spring used for the switch to the battery was originally painted to proved insulation. It may have been covered in plastic, I am not sure. It was what ever coating it had to provide the insulation through the ring to the back of the bulb. It would have contacted the back of the bulb, that samll part would not have been insulated of course. It was the switch.
The ring was the contact for the outside of the battery, and the screw part.
Not much missing from what I can see, the bulb. Yet age and oxidization could keep it from working. If you are just going to keep it for a display, just find a bulb and don't worry about it working.

hello all. been a bit busy lately i finally got some free time to do some detecting. its funny cause i collect old toys like tootsi toys dinky toys things like that. i still cant get over how lostcauses figured out that thing lol. i would like to clean it up a bit and put in a bulb but it looks like the connector is pretty rusted, but the wire thing that touch's the battery is where the connector hits the + on the light bulb and i think the ground would be the outside of the battery the way it looks. i did i bit af research and found out the only way to get one was a mailaway to cheerios cereal back in the 1940's. so there aren't that many of them left. i think it will make a nice addition to my toy collection. thanks all. "god bless" ben.

Will a light bulb screw into it?

It looks like some kind of special battery where the entire case is grounded.
