Pock-marked hammer stones

Doing a little research and self education...anybody care to share examples of pock-marked hammer stones they have found?

I’m especially interested in the type with a blunt AND sharp end.

Google image search mainly turns up images uploaded with the caption “Hammer stone?” and show a smooth river stone that could be used for a variety of tasks or could be just a random river cobble.

I’m looking for obvious examples.

this is the most obvious one I have...classic, with the snapped off end and the skin knocked off on the other.

So the end was typically broken off after it was shaped?

it is not shaped, it is just the right kind of rock found with the right shape. And yes, the end is often broken off like that...not sure why. the best part of this stone is the patina pecked off from use, that really sets it apart from a rock with wear on the end.

A lot of so called hammer stones were used to break spalls off of larger stones an the smaller ones were used to knapp out points. Here are a example of well used round and 1 with a point.

That last one was sharpened?

It was formed that way by striking against another stone.
