Point ID please!!

Ive been rambling through some of the points I have found throughout the years and this one caught my eye. I found it over 10 years ago in a horse pasture. I have never found another like it around here. Can anyone name it?

That is a familiar name. This is about as far north though. They are rare here, and that material, I have never seen here. Pretty sure it was traded on down the river a time or two ! Wouldn't it be cool to live like that?

Agreed very similar,here in the carolina's I'd call it a Caraway point.Here's a good site for some info on the points here in carolina.........

Great points! True triangle arrowheads. IMHOP, there is really very little, if any, difference amongst the varied local type names. even serrated ones and ones with accuminate tips and slightly U'd bottoms. All those variants occur in my area. I do call mine Pinellas Points, especially since I live in Pinellas County, LOL, but I am not a typologist. I could call them all Woodland to Historic Triangle Arrowheads! We have a lot of names for Archaic points but there is a group I call Archaic Stemmed Points.

I'd say the name of your county leaves little room for question. Is your county this point's namesake? I agree, same points have different names depending on where they are found. That is why keeping track of where points are found is so important. Not like you didn't know, but... Any way, thanks for viewing. It makes me sad when people skip my thread, so thanks again!!
