I was wondering how many here buy used detectors, etc., and how many go strictly new.

If you're knocking off $100,000+ a year and the wife gives you a decent allowance from that amount then maybe you can swing all brand new machines

This is good. No wonder so many guys buy used................LOL

I have bought 2 ML Excal 1000s ($850/$750) and one Whites 6000 PRO XL ($450) all used, and all arrived at my door working perfectly electronically. On one I needed to replace the rubber gaskets for the coil and also reglued the lower fiber shaft as it was loose, that was the extent of the problems.
