Poll - Would you "do the right thing"?

You don't have to post your answer

Just wondering what you all think. This is just a hypothetical question, lets say you found a diamond ring and it was appraised at $1,500 in a city park and their is a full name inscribed on the inside band. Would you try to track down the owner and give it back or would you keep it for yourself?

I'll be the first to admit that I keep everything I find. :icon_pirat:

*My only exception would be if someone asks me to help them find something and they have an exact description or a precise identifiable detail of the lost item.

Deleting would be a big mistake and be very offensive to those who put a lot of thought into their posts before typing them. Too bad this got cluttered with all the pages and pages of quotes and arguments.

Locking - well that might be a reasonable compromise if it continues to spiral downward and away from topic. Just my opinion, though.

Re: Poll - Would you "do the right thing"?

when in this hobby does it go from you owning gold to gold owning you ? -- greed is nasty vice , once infected by it it seldom lets go -- amassing money or other valuible items becomes more and more important --and people ,freinds, family and loved ones become less and less important --every treasure hunter should watch --" the treasure of the serria madre " before being allowed to treasure hunt -- a copy should come with every detector -- the greed bug often bites --treasure hunting folks --it drives some stark raving mad even, its a sad thing to see a person --infected by the "greed bug "

Personally I would try and track down the owner and give it back. I selfishly enjoy the good feeling I get from returning a lost item, which is worth more to me, than some obviously, could understand. The ones who do understand know exactly what I'm talking about. :icon_thumright:

I would have to say that i think that MT Pockets and myself and ones like us are the good guys . We don't try to fool ourselves or any one else about why we detect.
