Pond Life - Metamorph Froglet and friends
Nice lazy summer type day so sat down by the pond with my grandson and we noticed a bunch of fish coming to the surface. Well, they were not fish, they were tadpoles that are approaching the stage in their life cycle where they start breathing air with lungs in lieu of the tadpole gills.
We watched them for awhile and then noticed one of them crawl onto a Lily Pad. So, took some photos of a Metamorph Froglet.
It has been awhile since I knew the life cycle process, so went on the internet to find out when the tail goes away. Well, it looks like over the next couple weeks it will be absorbed into the body of the frog and not fall off as I had possibly thought. I expect to see quite a few more of the tadpoles emerging shortly like this one today.
Also got a few photos of Dragonflies and one of a big tadpole in the water, that perhaps is a Bullfrog tadpole. I believe all the others are Green Frogs.
