Hey Fossis, how long before it hatches? Will you end up being mother to a little porcupine? ::)

Methinks the green ones are from Ireland, ;D,
I cannot tell a lie, it is a 'Chinquapin' Seed pod, the nut was
eaten by a squirrel.
These are so prickly I had to pick it up with my cap.
They are endangered in this area.
It would be painful to change the diapers wes. :P

Cute Fossis.

I've been eyeing this for several days...it looks familiar. Seems there's a "nest of these eggs" down the road from me. I'm gonna check it out and get back with ya.

Looks like the top of the noble Jimson Weed.

Not familair with that one, I picked this one up
from under a friends tree in AR, squirrels had eaten nearly
all the seeds, (I dont know how they did it), they are so
'pricky', that you can't handle them without gloves, he was
told the 'Chinquapin' was rare, the trees get so tall, then
something happens that they die back to a shrub.

My "Green Porcupine Egg" is from a Chinese Chestnut tree I have on the property.

Too funny...when the kids were small I would pick these and put them in little nests and tell them to watch them until they hatched....kept them busy for days ;D My sister was so mad at me once because I gave some to my 3 yr old neice when they were here for a visit and she wouldnt let go of the nest the entire trip home!
You would be suprised at how many people believe you when you tell them they are porcy eggs.....

In our neck of the wood, we call this Jimsonweed, out west it is Locoweed!

Rev. Joel+

Yes, after seeing the pic, we have that in our area
also, but what I posted came off a tree, about 10 feet tall,
called a (chinquapin oak).

Fossis...............

Thanks for the clarification! Here in south we have the "Noble" Sweet Gum tree. It too carries a spiney ball fruit. Just step on one of these puppies while enjoying the Burmuda grass unshod!
