I have one of the XP emergency chargers that holds an AA battery but would like something more efficient. I assume I can use one of the many portable chargers available for charging phones but want to be sure they're compatible. I'd hate to do damage to the detector. This is the one I currently have but would obviously replace it if this one could be a problem.

I use a power bank that is similar. A 5V output limited to 2 amps is pretty standard. I bring mine with me on long outings and have used it to recharge while hiking between search areas. No problems.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear.

I think the main charger is one amp.

I believe you're correct about it being 1 amp.

I may be completely wrong but I think I read somewhere that the device being charged determines the amps it will draw from the charger, so even though the charger puts out 2 amps it should be fine for a 1 amp device. I was hoping for either someone with an electronics background, or someone who's had experience using a portable charger would be able to give an opinion.

Thanks for your response, so far I'm leaning towards giving it a try unless someone can give me contradictory information.
