Possible broken point?

Hi guys,

I was walking the beach today metal detecting when I found what I’m hoping is half of a Native American point! A Native American artifact of a big bucket lister for me so I really hope you guys see what I’m seeing... it feels right to me! Remember, this is a beach find a for sure has see some rolling wave action. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Where was it found? not sure what it was in a past life but looks like the base of a broken point to me.

I agree with Dennis n Terry....
First picture it looked like what we find here called an Albany Knife. Then looked at the other 2 pics and it’s a broke of base to a Lancelot shaped artifact.

What beach? Atlantic Ocean? Pacific Ocean? Old Man Kelsey's Crick? Old Man Kelsey's Pond?

Not sure on exact age or type but definitely was a knife.

Possibly a Meadowood (3300-2700 YBP). It has the basal grinding, the shape, thinness, material (if rhyolite) and found in the distribution range.

Definitely a ‘worked’ piece of dark Rhyolite. I’d like to see more of broken end -specifically that corner that appears to be notched.
Just curious.

Not sure what you have. Agree with MaMucker that it’s rhyolite. I thought it had a straight base, until MaMucker pointed out what might be a notch and ear, making me wonder just which end is up? I don’t see a Meadowood point or blade here, however. JMO.

At any rate, if you do intend to get further into artifact hunting, this is the best guide for you. 1200 life size color photos, not 12,000 as the description says. Seems pricey, but it’s the best guide for southern New England. Includes informative essays on typing points in our region as well…

I would think that the (obvious-seeming) basal grinding would narrow it down a bit. (?)

Looks like it may have lost some material here and made that notch at the same time. I'd say he has it oriented correctly in the original post. Like you Mucker, I'd like to see some close-ups of that area and what I think is the base as well.
