I have my suspicions about this lapel pin? Is it US Army WWI or a military academy?

That is a World WAR 1 Infantry Collar disk 2 bar medal mostly used for Good Conduct Award, definitely from a Military Academy "H" that most likely does not exist anymore. Cool find!
