Hello all. My kids & I were taking a hike back in our woods yesterday & we came across an old house site (I will try to post pics when I get home this evening). The only thing still standing is the cinderblock foundation which appears to be a HUGE basement. On the other side of the old Civil War railroad tracks was almost a dumpsite. There were old washing machines, an old sink, an old rusted bathtub, tires & a 1952 Ford Customline with the tags still on it. My question is this. Around that area was a couple places in the ground that were dug out and lined with cinderblocks. It went about 3-4 feet deep. There was a pipe that went through the cinderblock & into the hole, almost like a water line. There were about 3-4 of these cinderblock holes close by each other & each had about 8 inches of water in it. Would anybody know what these "holes" are? I took some pictures, so I will post them later on today. My uncle & I will be hitting that spot sometime soon, especially since The Battle of Mine Run took place around my house. Thanks.
