This came from a property in Stone County, Missouri that also produced late 1800's Minnie balls, toe taps, and other brass items. It is heavy, thick brass, and has a raised edge around the curved side. Unknown pattern of cuts on the other side. Is is possibly a broken half of a hilt off of a ceremonial or battle sword, or something totally different? Thanks for your ideas. Cheers, Sub 8-)

Nice dig! Could be off a M1860 Staff & Field sword.
