Item on lower right (shotgun shell for size). Appears to be mostly brass. The only steel part is the gear. The gear is quite heavy duty; possibly to take the pounding of a bell hammer movement. Initially I thought alarm clock back, but possibly something else. Thanks

The part to the right of the handle looks like one of the "Pillar's" of a reel a very early one at that.
That is actually part of the handle, but is bent over and the wooden knob is gone from the shaft. It looks a lot like some Penn reels.
