Tie your detector to you. If bad enough wear a life jacket. Those waves will wash up the dune. When it washes up, you have to let go and hang on to roots and stuff so you dont get washed out. If you dont tie the detector on, it will get washed out to sea.

This is going to be a massive hurricane. Be careful out there. Even here in N.C. The Outterbanks could take a beating according to forcasts. Hope to be able to shake free from work for a couple of days to hit the coast where ever it does the most work to the beach in my area.

Just got back from investigative tour. It's stirred up, but the waves are presently not taking sand off. Gotta wait for a bit for the waves to switch more from North. All fingers and toes are crossed.

Looks like a whole weeks worth of nasty for the Gulf. Surfs up come Fri night 6 footers for a couple of days with high winds out of the North and North West....that should move the sand south with some good cuts.... if it just moves the sand bars that was flattened ill be glad. Then come monday .... its going to be like winter here 72.... get out the wet suits water temp is going down.

As a Mid-Atlantic hunter
The Best Intel I can give you is to catch the Lowtide as the storm is moving away, at that point the storm will be sucking out the water..Many see cuts as good, I see sand throw'en upon the beach as good also, so keep in mind that treasure that is buried in the deep is pushed inland..And a day or two things that once were perfect can go sour. So besafe, But be there when it happens.

OBN, good advice!

IMO, the probelm with catching the first low will be access. EMS isn't going to let anyone on the barrier islands in Jersey, De or Md.
