This Eagle motif is almost identical to the Eagle on the Seated Liberty and Bust coins, I will post with this thread

Convex and nothing on the back, slightly larger than the quarter, as a quarter can just fit in the back

The Seated liberty Quarter picture was for reference of the Eagle design...

Seems odd for the hole to be off center for a concho. Is it brass or copper? Maybe some repurposed ornamental sheeting.

Scrape an edge. Yellow=brass, slightly red=copper......for the most part anyway. Looks like the outer part of a two piece button to me.

I have dug a LOT of stuff over the years and I can assure you that its NOT part of a two piece button.... There may have been an underneith part but this was no button. I have dug hundreds of buttons, from as far back as they were made in Spain, and the USA
It's a much more solid piece than a button is made out of, where you could maybe push a button with your hand, you can not push this...
Its solid... metal...
That saddle thing looks like it could be something similar.... as a decoration piece to something...
