Well sherds anyway, but that is good for our climate, and all the pieces were found in close proximity of each other, so maybe were joined at one time. And Buckshot found a wild looking point of Kay County chert. It's about 2 1/2 inches long. He found another nice uniface scraper too.

Pete, the only slate we find here just crumbles, I cannot imagine a point like that being made of slate. I was telling buckshot today how it funny we get excited when we find a material that ISN'T banded, the Kay county is so common here. He found a really nice broke today that at first look may be alibates?? hope so, maybe he'll post a pic....Gatorboy, those two examples look like stuff found here, but I know I've seen pictures of other banded flint? And what I've read about the notches in the grand is that they can swoop upward, I thought I was seeing that in Buckshot's piece. for the record, he doesn't really think it's a grand, but it IS cool!

Where did you find that? "State"
It looks alot like a fossil coral Newman point from Florida.
Gator anything I post will be all from here on the coast of N.C.,Never been off really looking anywhere else & don't collect from other places.I don't have one piece in my collection from any other place then here on the coast. All found by me or my dad.
Take Care,

That's neat,& I think you may be right.I do see some points & think I do have some made from slate but they don't look like this one.And after looking more into it I'll change my thought's & maybe go with some type of banded quartzite.I can see little quartz chunks/crystals in my piece.Wish you all the best in your future finds.
