Prehistoric Tool?

Hey guys.... please take a good look at this item that I found at the ancient summer fishing/camp site that I hunt. It is different from any other stone item that I have recovered in its smooth feel and the way that it fits the hand. there is also one notch on the base and a sharp edge. The back of it has some damage but I believe that it was some kind of scraper. What do you think? Thanks for looking.

It's hard to tell from your pictures, AB 80, but it looks like it's quartzite.

If so, it might have been used as an abrader to smooth other rocks.

"Might have" is about the best you can generally do with something like that. That it was found on a camp site, and is of a material exotic to the site puts it in the probable tool category. But past that, it's tough.

Roger that Uniface. Its a reality that is part of this addiction. unless its a clear, previously classified, known artifact...... the door to speculation will always be open. Its what makes it all so interesting
