It's made of brass

it says :
OPEN
DAY and NITE
To Speed Removal
9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

My question is - What were they removing ?......trash?...warts?....snow?.....teeth?
Any Ideas ?

Maybe it's a dry cleaning place. They might be open day and night to speed removal of stains. Maybe the advertisement went something like this " If you get a stain on your dress or suit were open day and night to speed removal.The way the plate is made the background was black and the letters were white. You could search local newspaper archives to see if you can find the advertisement. It looks like it might be from a 40's or 50's. good luck. It's just a guess but might be something to look into.

Dry cleaning, sounds good. This is out of Chicago. Tulsa has a day and nite cleaners also

Looks to be a printers plate, check local newspapers archives to see if there are any advertisments matching. HH

I agree. Does look like a printing plate for newspapers. Just watched a shw about these things the other day
