While driving up to Mount Baldy today could not stop looking at the dry riverbed that runs from the top all the way down into San Antonio Heights. I have not seen anyone prospecting that area. is it illegal or no gold? Maybe both? Let me know please anyone that has sampled the area.

The real gold is all them goodies the skiers lose and the dumps where all the snow removal equipment dumps the extra snow-John

I like your way of think'n John

Rick; There most likely is some color to be found in that drainage perhaps more but any good prospector who hit a streak or hot spot in there would never spill for fear of starting a rush into into his diggs. I do think it would be worth your while to at least cherry pick sample especially if you can find runs of exposed bedrock. Access shouldn't be much problem but whenever I'm concerned about leaving my truck unattended all day my wife or a friend will drop me in early and come back at dark. Good luck......Rob

RickA , If the old Baden Powell mine drains into it[I can't remember], it will no doubt have some color.G/L

Thank you John. Leave no trace and why tell the whole community if you did find anything. Makes perfect sense. But if I do find something, might drop you an email.

Ah, I remember Mt. Baldy.... My son (RIP) and I hiked up to the summit in '82 to see the only herd of Nelson bighorn sheep left in CA. Up past The Narrows... Memories! TTC
