Not sure if its Citrine (because of the yellowish lighting) or its actually citrine (in some areas) which again is quartz based.. I feel the host rock is simply a slightly obscure quartz geode..

I have found these in MO also. Usually dog tooth calcite crystals inside. I found several in geodes with this formation. fun to break open. but rather addictive.

Hey Thanks a bunch! What do you think about using varnish for the wet look? Good or bad thing to do?

Vanish as in a chemical cleaner?.. I wouldn't. Try 20 mule team or dawn foam.. warm water and a tooth brush if needed.. as for just adding the wet look for a better color wise image.. thats ok.. just have to be quick when grabing a shot.

No not to clean with. A gloss varnish used in wood finishing. I always have shellac, polyurethane and varnish around as i do lots of wood working. It made the rock look wet after it was dry. Didn't know if it was a good or bad thing to do but liked the way it turned out.

Aren't the crystals gorgeous as is?
I would only apply something like that if the mineral is likely to react in air, "decomposing" with time.

The crystals didn't get coated, only the back of the rock was coated.
