Squibnocket Stemmed. One of my favorite names among the point types we find in southern New England. Named after a pond on Martha's Vineyard, where they were first excavated.

I spotted this today walking Narragansett Bay, and on my way back to the car. These points are almost always quartz, and often show usage wear suggesting they were used in cutting, boring, graving, and scoring operations. Wear around the tip on this one seems to suggest that was the case here.

Around here, quartz rules, and sometimes the points are decent...

Very decent. Nicely made for quartz, the maker knew what he was doing

Nice one. Sounds like your eyes are always on the ground.

Love the name! That's a beautiful point Charl!

Great looking Point. That is a very nice example of the type.

Nice one looks perfect. The quartz in your area must be solid most of it here has veins and cracks in it. Must be why I dont find many well made ones like you do.

Very nice point.

Quartz was the most abundant lithic here, for sure. This point was the product of a quartz pebble industry that lasted thousands of years. Sometimes the cortex of the pebble is still present on the base. They just picked up pebbles and banged out points, no quarrying for quartz for the most part.
