reminds me of the lid of an antique wet cell battery but not sure since it's has three 'posts' and no electrodes that would hang down into the jar , so that's probably not what it is

Lamp socket? Where is the positive terminal? Everything shown inside is connected together, one terminal. Think about it

Thanks for your answers!!! But dark stuff on the back of the item is like cardboard, some kind of insulation! Mummytrol!!!
