My bank said I could buy the bag of half dollars off of the coin machine but they would have to send it into the feds first and then they would send a bag back???Couldnt guarantee that it would be the same bag and it could have foreign coins etc. in it??The bag would be 1000 face, what would you do and what kind of success have you had from these plastic bags??thanks in advance.

Bags can be both ends of the spectrum. Although, unlike rolled box coin, with a bag you also stand a greater chance of getting most or all of a 'collection dump.' If the same coin had made it to a processing facility, the chance of getting a large amount of silver contained in the collection dump would be greatly diminished by the rolling process. You might get a few, a bunch, or none.

The bag also has a greater chance for 'bonus' coins; coins that aren't usually counted towards the net amount ($1000), such as foreign, etc.

Sometimes bags can be a 'Jackpot'.

ramjet, thanks for some great ideas that I had never thought of!!

anyone else buy the bags???

I got 2 $500 bags once. Found 1x 64.
I was told brinks roller broke. Next week back to boxes, w nice tight rolls..

All boxes are just bags picked up from various banks and dumped into a hopper and rerolled. This is where silver gets mixed in from collection dumps.. THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T REROLL! No chance to get mixed in with silver. Hence ruins hobby for others..

I don't think there is a magical warehouse of pallets of halves.
