Hi All
One item that I need your help with is this for another buddy of mine. From Wisconsin, this was found on a primarily late in Woodland or early Mississippi sight. A few hammerstones were found, along with some other hearthstone artifacts. I'm curious if this stone has any indications of been worked. There are facets and several corners which give me pause. Could this have been used as a hammer strome or used in other Flint knapping purposes? If not, any ideas what could have caused this type of damage? Thank you

Sometimes it's just hard to tell, at least for me. I've been told they used cobbles that were available at the moment. What I see is a stone I would have brought home to look more at and I see why you did, I also see plant fossils, specifically in pics 1 and 4 but can't really say because the pics won't let me zoom. I'm sure someone else will come along shortly and give better insight.

I've found similar stuff on known sites. It's just hard to say....could be something used by natives or that damage could be from cattle/ horses

cobble choppers are true and real things...so are creek tossed rocks...so the context you found it is is helpful but not definitive.
