I have dated cow and sheep tags from the 1920's thru the 1950's. Can anyone tell me if they are worth anything? I found them while detecting an old ranch in the central mountains, some has the owners name.

Thanks

when I read "I have dated cow and sheep" I had to read farther. no, I know nothing of those tags.

Are these the rectangular (about 3 by ? inches) aluminum ear tags made by the Salt Lake Stamp Company? If so, there is a market for them on eBay, especially the ones that have a rancher's name and town. I have seen several from southeastern Idaho and imagine they would bring at least $10 in decent condition. As with so many of these types of thing, you have to find the specialized market to find someone interested, unlike an old coin where there is a ready market with established values. A Utah "town collector" would pay a lot more, in other words. Post some pics if you can! Best, John in ID.

Here is a few pictures they are not that clear using old webcam :-\
