Questions / confused on black sands.

Ok, so watching guys pan in a stream and dumping or letting black sands get away. So what black sand is worth keeping and what isn't? It appears the blue bowl is best to seperate to a point and then? Microwave what is left with flux or? At what point do you throw them away?
