That filled in "R" could to be factory installed. :occasion14:

Almost looks as if the die didn't make a clean cut, and failed
to remove the material.

Your image size was huge, so I trimmed it down a bit and tried
to bring out the letters better:

What does " factory installed" mean? Is it worth keeping or just another mechanical error?
 

And if a letter is completely missing on a coin? Or of the the L in Liberty is an I instead? What are those called? Sorry bout all the questions. Justvtrying to learn about my finds and thank you for fixing my pic. U guys are great. I love this site.
 

That is a small die chip on the R, no real value but certainly worth keeping if it interests you. There could be different reasons for a letter to be missing or look different. A filled die probably most likely but post pictures and you will get a better answer.

Yep, die chip. An excited collector with deep pockets may pay between $0.50 and $1.00. At least that is what I get locally.

Time for more coffee.
