Went back to the park and enjoyed the day , found some clad and 2 wheat pennies a 1918 D & 1946. I also found a key and I think it came from the Pere Marquette Rail Road. The key as P.M. RR on one side and on the other side has the numbers 5421 and a 8 down by the shank. I have been wanting to find some railway stuff just hope thats what it is if any one has a better idea let me know. Good hunting everyone!

I agree with you. Here's a description of a similar looking key:
[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]Early A&W hex logo switch key deeply marked PMRR on the front. Has serial number 541 on the reverse. Nice key and from the 1890's.

Interesting bit of useless info. It's my understanding that since 9/11 selling RR keys is illegal. I know if you were to put it on Ebay it's likely they would pull your ad. Something to do with the potential of terrorists using them to change the switches on railroad tracks and causing derailments.

Your key can be dated to between 1899 and 1917. In 1899 the Pere Marquette Railroad made keys with the initials PMRR. In 1917, the company was reincorporated and named the Pere Marquette Railway and the key design was changed to read PMRY.

Great finds, love, the key. I suspect the 8 should be a S for switch.
