Re: Rain didn't stop play & I'm on a MEGA ROLL BABY!!!
congrats on your finds, excuse my curiosity and interest in your finds.Just amazed.then i go looking for lost gold digging and camps and dumps i apply the following methods and applications.
First research the british colonials left behind massive amounts of recorded facts ,figures, locations and other usefull materal.so that is always helpful.
second geological and climate factors[ erosion, waterflow and so on]
third agriculture methods used in rome, medieval, pre industrial times [had limited ground penetration]modern agriculture machinery like scarifying blades and harrow plough discs and lasar ground leveling are also better but still limited ground penetration.with archaeolgical sedmentary layering theory the chance of surfacing of relics of over a thousand years would be limited.but anything is possible
also history includes polities, religion, culture, race and technology
i also use nitrogen field tester kit[chemical] and a battery nitrogen ground tester. The levels of nitrogen are always higher than natural ground and makes it easy to find old dwellings and dumps that have been covered up.
looming [tracing] surfacing of shards of glass and pottery to main area and the ever visable depression in the ground.[old shafts, graves, dumps]
people are creatures of habit and things haven,t changed through the ages and this sort of social science can be applied[thing like a 1850 miner or a roman]
i also apply the method of where at the time and place did the most people gather that sort of ups your chance of increasing your find yeild.
i also use 3 different types of m.ds,minelab sd 2100 with big coil for depth and minelab explorer for coin and relics and a goldspear for gold in water[piecie of junk] all m.ds have there limitations and everyone has their on view on which is best suited.
i share my methods and application with you and i would like to here about some of yours.there is always more to learn.
thank for sharing your finds and i sure want to know some of your secrets
