Ran into the coin counter repair man today...

He hates us.

I just made small talk with him while he was finishing repairing the machine. He said the thing that bothers him most are the "silver miners" who dump "a whole lot of half dollars in the machine, it can't handle many of them and it tears it up."

I left my halves in my bag and just dumped the dimes.

I'll try and spread out my half dollar dumps then. No more than $200 at a time.

I don't know why a coin machine repair guy would complain about us then. Sounds like job security to me. I would have dumped right in front of him and told him, "Just trying to keep you employed."

The gentleman that services the machines in my area and at the branch I work at is paid by the job not by the hour. I know hes interested in the short quick fixes because he can do them more frequently and make the same amount of money. I would imagine the problem with him and the jobs we call him in for are that it generally requires a new part that has to be special ordered and atleast a return trip and an additional 1hour+ to install it.

If this is avoidable its easy to understand why he, along with your specific repairman gets agitated and complacent. Don't limit yourself in my opinion, i work at a Credit Union and the machines are there for the members to use....its not an antique its just a machine...use it till it dies!

Then again maybe he does roll hunt and he's tired of everyone dumping clad into his coin supply. Lol
