You are in rattlesnake country. It got photographed because it was not using its Home Depot Credit Card.

It's not greed, Jeff. With all of the free classifieds, paper are having a very difficult time of it. They've lost their main revenue source. No reason they should offer free use of the information they've developed. I spend time and effort developing plans for prospecting equipment. I don't let people use that for free either. I don't consider myself greedy at all.

Ever hear of Craigslist? Or, all the free classifieds on websites and forums? Around here, the last place to search for something you want is the newspaper classifieds....there's very few items there.
Jim

the last place I would look at ads for My immediate area, would be craigs list :tongue3:
Non of the Locations it Lists are within 80 Mile of Me.

I would go Purchase a Local paper, Or wait for the Merchandiser.

It's free, Paid for by the advertisers :coffee2:

Still has nothing to do with the fact you're calling a business "greedy", with all it's negative connotations, without having any idea of the situation the business faces. That's your privilege, but I strongly disagree, having been in business my entire adult life. I believe in capitalism, and people can charge whatever they want. Let the market sort them out.

I'm not gonna Ruin this Thread by arguing with Ya Jim :tongue3:

Too Exhausting :coffee2:

actual title of thread: Rattlesnake... My guess Planted or someone left the Back doors open

My brother stepped out of the shower a few years ago, heard a thump, and turned to see a huge timber rattler in the tub. Likely came in and got on the shower rod.
We got him out and he was turned lose out of town.
Problem for a lot of online papers is the free content to be found. Trying to stay afloat is not greedy in my opinion. Taking advantage of people who need something or a service is my idea of greed. The market generally does sort things out.

Darned scary a big rattler could get itself up on the shower rod. Last place I'd look for one.

The rattlesnake was just getting out of the heat. I don't blame it.

Interesting it's in the Garden section.
I Know Walmart Garden Sections Doors are always Open.

Hillbilly Prince, ick, ick, ick.

In S. Ga., Dad had some old bricks stacked beside the back door.
He'd sometimes set firewood there, before bringing it in the house.
Well, one day my stepmom was alone, and out from under her chair a rattlesnake slithered out. :o
She got the broom & was able to get it out the door.
Dad cleaned everything away from the back door. No where for them suckers to hide & slither in.
There's a ramp there now, and I worry what could be nesting under there, one day.
I try to keep it as clean & clear underneath, as I can... :dontknow:

Few years back, here in S. Fl., lady at home depot or Walmart, (don't remember which),
was bit by a pygmy rattler that was laid up in a potted plant. :BangHead:

Gotta be vigilant & stay aware, still, things can happen. :notworthy:

I keep moving shrubberies away from the house. Having 5 arborvitaes removed next week. Too big, too close to power lines, can't see squat out back.

Moth balls work on snakes. They don't like them and will stay away from wherever you have them.

My brother aged about five years once things were under control :D I know quite a few men who turn into six year old girls around a snake, but I just highly respect them. Especially timber rattlers and copperheads. Copperheads are psychos!
The thing is they will enter your house or whatever when it is hot.

Maybe YOUR house! I have lived here since 1977 and it should be prime copperhead territory but I have fortunately never seen one.

I should have been more clear. My brother's friend showed up in town. Copperheads seem to keep more to the woods, farms and timber.
This town is right next to Mark Twain National Forest, creek runs through it. All kinds of snakes and wildlife very close.

Same here in Arkansas . . . except you can read the news, you just can't read the obituaries. Now I gotta pay to make sure I'm not in there!
