I managed to get out for a couple of hours this afternoon on the new field. The finds are good but still only one hammered from this field so far. I haven't had time to clean and take pics of everything, but I did photo my star find for today, a Victorian wedding band, 5.3 grams 18ct. Thanks to Silver Searcher for identifying the year mark 1894. I also found my best crotal bell today and will post picture of that along with everything else tomorrow.

The second one kinds of knocks and doesnt throw that ring

Thanks Red , trouble is I didn't have my glasses on when I started digging. I saw the gold glint, but I thought it was a beer bottle cap at first, otherwise I would have taken an insitu photo . I found loads more today but I haven't had a chance to clean it all yet, but the ring is king so far

Yes, that ring is king, you did great, I love all the detail and work that went into the ring, and it's in such great condition for it's age! The bell is awesome too, can't believe it still rings, that is too cool!!!! Red

One of them has 4 holes in the top and 1 only 2..The one with 4 rings very loud

That is an extremely attractive gold ring Can the maker of the crotal bell be traced from the marks on it ? I have yet to find a crotal bell on this side of the pond with makers initials on it Nice ! MaineRelic

It is wonderful how we can track dates with the British marking system
The Marked bell is a topnotch discovery too

Thanks Dave, I haven't found or seen a Chester mark before, all I know is the Assay office closed in 1962

Surprised no one has metioned Banner for the ring the Chester mark is rare for a start, over a Hundred years old...come on...BANNER

I like Crotal bells to, but I never find them, even fragments a rare for me
