I dug my fourth and OLDEST silver coin for the year today! A 1781 half real and man is it tiny! I almost walked away from this bouncy signal. On the F75 it read out as a 71 vdi but jumped to iron on different directions. I probably swung the coil over this for about 2 minutes...almost walked, but said I will dig this. Pop the plug put the pro-pointer in the hole, not in the hole so I search the plug and it's in there! I pop it out and I thought I had another pewter type flat button. I broke the dirt off of the back and I knew instantly I had a spanish real! Talk about stoked man! My first one! Took me a long time to find something else, but I ended up finding a flattened thimble(my second one and both flat!) and then a crusty indian head about 2 feet away from that.

This past sunday I detected for a little bit and found my first pair of cufflinks...not sure on the era these come from. I'm guessing early 1800's and I also dug a CW pistol bullet that day then my metal detector went bunkers with the moister and highly mineralized ground so I called it a day.

And kinda my unexpected find for the week was this .69 caliber 3 ringer! I work in winchester and where we keep our equipment for our lawncare business I decided to detect there for a little. About 4 minutes walking up behind one of our trailers I get a 60 vdi and an inch down in the dirt pops out the bullet! Kinda shocked to find it considering we don't find any confederate bullets around there.

Well that's my finds and thanks for looking! HH!

Congrats on the silver. The cufflinks are colonial, about mid-1700's and .69 cal 3-ringers were used by both sides. The 2-ringer you dug is an odd one, possibly foreign.

Cool. Didn't know they were used by both. It's only the second 3 ringer I have dug in Winchester. The other one was probably a .58 caliber and was turned into a sinker. Usually only find Spencer's, .45 colts, Burnsides and Sharps here. So it was a pleasant surprise to see the massive bullet pop out right there. Thanks for the info on the cufflinks as well. I was happy to find these, considering there was a hole dug inches next to it by a friend.

Awesome score on the half reale  not many of those around my parts but they do find them occasionally in bay citys etc.

Congrats on the spanish silver, still waiting for mine.

Cufflinks are a good find, pretty scarce item, I just got half of a set the other day.

Thanks. I never thought I would see a spanish real come out of the ground. Ya just never know!

Late 18th C cufflinks, great to get them still attached - nice find. The spanish is the icing on the cake:thumbsup:

Way to go, I cant stop looking at it! Its a little worn but still in good shape. You just took the lead finding the oldest silver, LOL. I remember going over that on Wednesday i too scanned the hole for a minute or so but i didnt dig it :sadsmiley:. I thought it was a piece of a horse shoe but boy was i wrong. Congrats on finding that Spanish silver i cant wait to see it on Monday. :notworthy:

Thanks! Yeah it is a little worn, but for it being 231 years old it's not too bad! lol Come this winter when the tall grass and over growth dies this place is gonna become a whole new hunting ground and I can't wait!

Your digging up some Great Colonioldies .. hit it Again ! :skullflag: DAWG

Awesome and a great score on the reale nice to see one that is flat and not a reale taco , and awesome score on the lead as well , I like that two ringer that is a odd ball .

Yeah it does have a very very slight bend in it if you turn it on it's side, but I was glad to see it wasn't totaly worn smooth or bent really badly out of shape. Glad to get a date off of it.

Awesome old keepers, congrats :headbang: !

Nice - cufflinks are from 1770 possibly - tudor rose - usually worn by naval officers

Very nice Matt!! You will dig many Spanish coins in your hunting career. WTG, Quindy.

Thanks, Quindy. Could you tell me the settings you run your F75 in? Do you run in factory settings or do you tweak it? You can message me if you don't feel like revealing any secrets. lol I'm mainly interested in what you would run it while detecting highly mineralized ground. Where I have mine set it's doing fine, but I feel like I could be doing better as far as settings. I tried running in motion but really couldn't get used to it for some reason. Thanks again buddy.

Glad to share Matt as I had lots of veteran F75 users give me tips when I bought my first one in 2009. We hunt in AM Motion mode for relics. I trust it for weak signals as opposed to Disc. mode. We use factory settings in +1 threshold and 70 sensitivity. The unit runs very quiet and I don't think we miss many deep signals. I don't know why but I prefer to hunt in F5 frequency instead of the F4 default but I doubt that makes any difference. I don't see how people keep their sanity with a 90 or higher sens. setting-too much input for your brain to assimilate.
As to hot soil, readings are significantly lower on the display. For example, a .58 bullet may only read 12 or 13 in very hot soil. GB OFTEN in hot soil. When you swing the coil and get a "ping" each sweep, Fast grab GB it. Above all, dig everything with a solidi signal. Don't expect it to do as well as the GPX or TDI units as it's a VLF detector. Deep signals that are 10 in. or deeper may only read 12 on the display but read 60 when you get them out of the hole. Even though it's not recommended, change the 4 AA batteries after the battery meet gets down to the 3rd bar. It will work better and weak batteries make the machine sound erratic. HH, Quindy.
