Metal detecting and treasure hunting offer countless opportunities to collecting, earn some money, learn, share knowledge, and engage in good deeds. Returning lost jewelry is an impressive good deed. But, what about other forms of good deeds? I found a pair of prescribed eyeglasses lost in the woods, which happened to be in great condition. Just some plain water washing followed by pad drying, and they are ready to put to work again.
How? Millions of persons around the globe need prescribed eyeglasses that they can't afford. Recycling old glasses is the answer. Every city in the US has places wherein old, discarded glasses can be recycled for those that can't afford them. The Lions Club and Lens Crafters, for example, formed a partnership that allows for recycled eyeglasses reach those in need. All you need to do is to drop them off at their facilities and you will be helping out at least one person needing them.
