This is a cool piece. It's a good flake- and snapped base. I can't see how it was anything but a scraper. Small chip on the back is from my dern cat.....

And a black mutant all funny and re-worked. I like the odd-balls- especially the Way Symmetrically Challenged ones 8-)

That red one sure is cool.
I think the initial impact fracture removed most of the back in one big flake.. Then it was reworked after that.

I found a piece similar a couple of weeks back. I have been meaning to show it to Gator so that we could argue about it. Lol! If notching was the last step in producing all stemmed points, why is this piece like it is?

Lol! I think Gator is correct about the impact fracture. My notched uniface is a little strange. Possibly an impact fracture like posted above turned scraper and used a lot? Not sure.

That's crazy almost looks like a spokeshave graver combo

Gator is right on the spot about the impact break and then being reworked, that's a nice find:thumbsup:

You think? I wasn't sure which came first- chicken or egg. But you make a good point (so to speak), and it makes sense to me- more than simply making a scraper from a flake. Thanks!

NC- that's a crazy little multi-tool! Thanks for kicking that in! Yak

2 nice scraping tools yak.

S'ariiiight 8-) and thanks Rock!

Those are nice, great red color... thanks for sharing them with us!
