Can anyone tell me what this is . I found it at a revolutionary battlesite. it is smaller than a dime.

I agree it looks like a brass tack. I dont know how old.

The correct answer to the question is that yes this is a relic.

Along with the other good suggestions, Native Americans used brass tacks as decorations on their weapons. ( firearm stocks, spear shafts, trade ax handles, knife handles & wooden pipe stems)
