A fellow detectorist took me to one of his honey holes where we had some success. This location was basically a Baronny in the late 1600's to the mid 1700's. There was a main house and then a couple dozen smaller houses...the occupants of the samller houses worked at the main house and the surrounding farms. There is also a major fort nearby.

I found some relics ranging from the spoons to harness buckles, decorative key escutcheon, musketball and buttons. One of the buttons is a military, Naval anchor button made of pewter. I also found a couple flat buttons and a tombac button.

I also found three George II penny's from one small area. I cannot make out the dates but I am guessing 1730's based on what I can see. In addition to the three copper George's I also found an 1832 Nova Scotia thistle penny and an 1815 Success to Trade and Navigation token. It was a fine day for detecting!

On a previous hunt my host found a Spanish cob as well as an early French silver coin (very rare). No silver this time but I hope to return for another hunt. The area is huge and we barely scratched the surface. We haven't even hunted where the main house was...yet!

Awesome colonial finds.

Man I gotta come up with a good early site this fall. We have the history where I am at. But I'm in the city so land and woods are thining.

There is no farm fields around here. You gotta get out of the city. And that takes time. It's really grown in to right now in the thick woods.

Can't wait to see what els is out there.
