Ol Jim Hopper passed today after a long battle with lung disease. Jim AKA FogMan was one of the best known knappers to ever live. He perfected flake over grind technique and made the finest modern lithic art I have ever seen . Jim was also an arrowhead hunter and collector. I spent many hours with him.

I am assured Jim is celebrating in heaven now. I know many members here knew him. Gonna miss him.... steve

That sucks. I remember when he came to Texas and stayed with you. The nice stuff he made while he was there. The auctions on AO.

RIP Fogman!

I remember all that and much more about Fogman. I am fortunate that I have two of his Oregon Jasper masterpieces. I am very sorry to hear about this. RIP Jim Hopper. Gone but never forgotten. Your work will survive the ages.

He made some amazing stuff. I guess I have around 75 of his items.

My condolences to friends and family.

If I recall correctly all the lithic materials he used on his stay came from your sites. All those pictures on AO are gone forever... post them up Steve, I pretty sure everyone here would enjoy that show.

Yes and I remember those palmwood catahoulas and others. Lets see 'um.

I will post some of the points I have later. The points we auctioned are scattered around the country. I'll dig in an old computer and see if I can find pics.

Jim's generosity to me--an Oregon Bloodstone Jasper Elko. Received as a gift on January 19, 2016 which happens to be my birthday! What a guy! I later built and sent him a home-made red cedar frame. I'll try to find it.

Edit: Pics of two I made (both are identical and will hold a Riker nicely)--one for Jim Hopper and the other for another knapper in L.A. named Tim Severn. Jim's generosity to me speaks volumes about his character as well as Tim's.

That's just a few I had on my phone. I'll get a lot more over the next few days.

If anyone else has Fogman points to post, please do so. I know Joshaream has some.

This is the other piece I have from Foggy--another gift of Oregon Jasper!

I guess this thread got moved. Oh well...

I went to lots of knap-ins but never met him. I've seen plenty of his work though. Amazing skills. Gary

Jim being jim. Pics kinda suck as they are pics of pics from an old puter.
