Return Hunt To 1760's Lost Farm

11-11-11 Thursday the tenth :icon_sunny: 60's here in Jersey . Dawg here .... Perfect conditions , moist soil , no bugs . Had a great time out in the " jungle like " ... old farm house site with a T Net bro , , stevepeach . Clearing out some of the briars and tree limbs was a pain in the you know what but time spent was worth every penny . Lots of iron relics , a hooker , big rusted sling buckle , a brass pin of English design , Ol' musket butt plate ::) well actually , what's left of it ::) , tear drop bullet type rivet , the usual buttons and scrap . Coins were here and there around the six to eight inch depth , found a newest year King George , a 1799 ...half penny . Two US large cents , :) finally broke my NO early US American copper slump :laughing7: A great date 1797 penny and looks like a worn out 1822 cent found by Boston native , stevepeach :icon_scratch: decent 1775 KG III half penny , a 169* Charles II, copper talley ... 4 for stevepeach / 5 for CMD dawg :tongue3: one up on Beantown digger ! :laughing9:  there are a few more KG 's that need more cleanup work but it's late an I have to get to work early :P but will get back , this weekend .. a Great time with peach , burnt out , but really had a blast . :sleepy2: that's about all I can scratch out tonight . :icon_salut: Salute to all the Vets . Thanks for stopping in to check out the finds , A Great Nov. hunt's to all  MD dawg

I predict a few state coins are in the forcast this weekend . Blue Willow china shards  the good stuff back then

Well said my friend. Reality , :icon_scratch: it's like a wake up call that there are no guarantees that things will always remain the same or we'll be here tomorrow . You have to find the time to do for the ones you love and do the things you love to do because , you just never know what fate has waiting down the road . Thanks , Pete :) dawg

Hi MR , The 1799 Is the newest and only one I have ever dug . A few turn up , even 1800's pennies and Navy buttons . Reason why , during 1812 and 1813 The British had a blockade of the Delaware Bay . The British warships anchored off Cape May and up the coast . They raided the Del. Bay shore area and stole cattle and other livestock from the locals. Long boats were sent daily for fresh water and provisions . The HMS Martain was one sloop that raided the Cape and the 1760's Lost Farm area many times according to local history ... try this link chapter XVIII http://ia600302.us.archive.org/2/items/historyofcapemay02stev :icon_scratch: there may be a chance the butt plate and the medal were from England . Thank you , dawg
