I made a return trip to the old country store site on Monday afternoon for a two hour hunt. This is the same site where I found my first V nickle about a week ago. It was a beautiful afternoon ... sunny and 75 degrees. I worked an area of the field that doesn't get as much detecting as some of the others and it paid off. I found 5 wheat cents (only one with a readable date ... 1926), 1 buffalo nickle (no date), 1 unknown cent but probably a wheat but worth checking (very thin and crusty that I've got soaking in peroxide), a nice dog tag from 1940, a square nail, a buckle, a lead ball, and a couple of whatzits. It was a good hunt and an enjoyable afternoon. By the way ... a fellow detectorist worked this same site on Sunday and found one coin ... a very nice 1910 V Nickle with good detail on it. There have been many nice coins pulled from this site over the years. Last year I found a beautiful 1908 Barber Half and my hunting buddy dug several mercs and V nickles.
