Hi guys, John dug these today, and I can't find a match for them during an online search. Could anyone help us ID these? They appear to be brass or copper? And as you can see, one has a 17 on it and one has a 24 on it. Both found in the same area as our other Revolutionary war finds. Also attaching the biggest buckle ever. Thanks and our best to all. -Lisa & John

Do you have pictures of the backs of the buttons?

They just don't have that rev war look to them, even the plain ones but I'm probably wrong. Good luck with your ID

Cool. Don't appear to be American or British or French... maybe Spanish.

Nice finds. As these don't seem to have a easy ID, they become even more interesting. Looking forward to whomever has the answer.

top_men_indiana_jones.gif...I'm lookin into it

could be CW Ma.militia - but trying to confirm

ONE LOOKS BRITISH AND THE OTHER MAYBE 24TH FOOT REGIMENT OR 2ND WARWICKSHIRE . NOT SURE THEY ARE STAMPED PRETTY BOLD IN NUMERALS . BEAUTIFUL FINDS .

Each and every one of you, thank you for your input. Here are more photos, including the backs. A mystery, indeed! -Lisa & John

They are more modern than what you have been finding recently. Are they from the same area as the older relics?

Don't look button like to me, remind me of marker pins. Similar were hammered into railway sleepers, not saying these were, but that kind of thing.

Sut, Iron, Crusader--this is getting more mysterious as the night wears on. Correction, they were found on the other side of the driveway, so a new area. This is what John just told me. Would Tice's book show these, or is his book just American? Thanks, L&J

You guys could be right, but the backs don't resemble these window marker tacks. We really appreciate your efforts in IDing these. For now, will call them window markers unless we confirm elsewise. Thanks so much. -L&J

by top men - I meant Don Troiani
he seems to think the 24 might be a Continental army button

I'll bet my next large copper he changes his tune on that one. :) And hopefully that is tomorrow!

Don't know about the buttons, but that is one heck of a shoe buckle frame!
