Rim Searching

I almost missed a Walker in a roll of halves.

When rim searching make sure that you have good light in the room.

I was checking a roll at the mall at the Disney Store and I was about to put it back in my pocket
dump side when just by I do not know what I decided to look at the dates. I missed a 1940 Walker.

This is the 2ND time I almost miss a 90%. It happened to me with a Kenn90% too some time ago.

Sounds like you need a pair of glasses. Only kidding! I'm 66 years old and if I don't have my reading glasses on I may miss one as well.

And that is why I don't rely on one sense. Even though my eyes might fail me, my hearing doesn't (yet). At a minimum (sometimes I'll date check, also), I do a Rim and Ring search. Rim search is obvious, but then I'll cascade them in my hand (slinky style) and listen for the unmistakeable ring. Nice catch on the lady.

Totally. Sunlight in the car is perfect. Fluorescent light is crap.

I make a point of looking at what I call ambiguous edges. Quite often a marginal-looking coin can be silver. In fact, my theory is that when I find one ambiguous half in a box that it is most likely a piece which has been overlooked by an edge searcher in a hurry.
