Take it to a jeweler and have them check it. If its marked 18k and is 18k there is a good chance that the diamond is real.

The hallmark stamps look good (a clear pic of them would be needed for better Id), the gold looks good (not plated), if that is 18k solid gold there's a much better chance it's a diamond.

Does it have the letters CZ next to each other? Take it to a jeweler and he will find a laser etched serial number on the diamond (if it is modern) and notified the seller and they will contact the owner who might say that the ring was stolen in a burglary.

I'd like to see a close-up of the markings. Is it marked GD and then a C in a separate place, or is it marked GD&C with an ampersand? Judging by the photos, it looks to have 5 different markings instead of just two.

That's an absolutely gorgeous ring, and I'm thinking it's a real diamond since it's 18K, but am not putting a horse in the race until I see the markings. Do as the others have said and go to a JEWELRY STORE that has a certified gemologist.
