Ring find this morning. Hard to see from the photos but it has an inset on the outside that appears to be a copper band. It seems to be gold, but there is no karat marking, and the stamp shown is inside the band. It's not magnetic. Has only been cleaned slightly with warm water. The property has been occupied for at least 180 years by my family. Any ideas on the mark?

I agree, but it's odd to me that the inside came out shiny and outside--where the copper (?) inset was is so dark.

I don't know either. Here's a closer, but not so great, shot (I don't have a macro lens). It seems like the copper or perhaps some sort of enamel was within an inset. The extreme edges of the ring look too regular. You can also kinda see the spot where the metal was fit together. _DSC1062.jpg
