River hunting

I'll be going to Paducah during the holiday season and would like to do some detecting along the Ohio River. I've read the Ky statutes on detecting on public land....it is prohibited. Does anyone know if the river is considered public land? I may have to contact the Corps of Engineers.

Good question. I have no idea but I would treat it as such. I've run into too many young, eager beaver DNR employees that know it all. Are you thinking of detecting in the sand banks/sand bars?

The sand bars and just along the bank. People are always walking along and picking things up, so I don't see where it would be a problem.

I agree, probably safe. Shout out with your finds, sounds like an interesting hunt! Might be some Indian artifacts.....

Any luck with searching the banks. I'm looking to do the same a little further east on the Ohio River
