I found this in middle Tennessee. I have one other like this. I thought maybe it is used when knapping to abrade the edges with, I would like to hear other opinions on it though. It has an interesting share that looks like it was cut into it though, not sure about that.I did find a hammerstone close to where I found this piece, I will show it also.Maybe they where the same 0919190746.jpg 0919190748c.jpg 0919190748a.jpg 0915191645b.jpg 0915191647.jpg mans knapping tools?

The rock with lines may be a sharpening tool for bones or lithics. The little sphere looks like it has a flat spot. I tend to find lots of spheres with flat spots. My area does not produce very many arrowheads but has a fair amount of groundstone so the ones I find may be pecking stones.

Nice finds!

Thanks Jamus, you may be right about them sharpening things on it, I hadnt thought about that . The hammerstone does have a flat spot, every one I have found does I think.

JMO the flat stone does look like it was used for abrading and the round stone with the flat spot could be a Bolo stone.

Thats an interesting thought rack, I always assumed they were hammerstones. I have several similar to it.
